Andrea Corney Chosen for Spherical Dynamics
Workforce Management Software Certification

Select Program Picks Acorn Consulting’s President to Offer Services Featuring Spherical Dynamic’s Revolutionary Team Analysis Tools

Menlo Park, CA, August 2, 2004 – Acorn Consulting announced today the selection of Andrea Corney, President, to join the coveted channel of Spherical Dynamics Affiliates, a select group of invitation-only members who are certified to use the family of Spherical Dynamics products. Acorn Consulting is now qualified to give the SDI instrument, review and decipher the results, and help individuals and teams use their results to increase their effectiveness. The SDI tools enhance the impact of Acorn Consulting’s successful programs in conflict resolution, emotional intelligence, team performance, and executive coaching programs.

“Most assessments are essentially self-reported personality portraits,” said Andrea Corney, president and founder of Acorn Consulting.  “The Spherical Dynamics products are about the process of getting work done.   By measuring physiological events in the brain, the instrument gives an accurate picture of how each individual goes through the process.  As a result, typical evaluations pale in comparison in their ability to impact the bottom line.”

Based upon 20 years of research in workforce management, Spherical Dynamics addresses the four phases of a project cycle – developing ideas, generating motivation and buy-in, planning, and executing.  Research shows that different individuals excel in different parts of the cycle and that different tasks require a different balance of the 4 phases.

The Spherical Dynamics software defines the requirements for each team or project in terms of the amount of emphasis required for each phase of the Cycle.  The software tool combines the Spherical Dynamics assessment with a characteristics inventory and teaming tools.  A team can then use the data in the recruitment of individuals who can easily focus their energy as required to complete the objectives.  An optimal team moves through all phases of the cycle using their collective energy to achieve an objective.  The combined participation of well-used team members creates a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts.

The program is applicable to individuals, project life cycles, and entire teams.  With the certification, Acorn Consulting will be able to use the tools to expand upon their current coaching service offering, with the possibility of adding new services in the following areas:  general team analysis, project analysis, succession planning for executives, and Board of Director selection.
